shift differential! Position Summary A RN Supervisor (Direct Care) provides supervision to nursing staff and professional nursing care to residents as prescribed by a physician and in accordance with nursing practices standards and registered nurse scope of practice.
General PurposeThe general purpose of the RN Supervisor (Direct Care) position is to supervise day-to-day nursing functions, while administering quality nursing care to residents, assessing residents' health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team, and evaluating medical resident care.
A Nursing Supervisor functions as a Charge Nurse and assists in the direction and supervision of other nursing personnel and helps to promote a positive physical and psychosocial environment among residents and staff.

Position ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervises nursing staff in the day-to-day delivery of resident care, including:
scheduling job assignments, developing nursing unit priorities, participating in recruitment and selection of nursing staff, orienting new nursing staff, communicating policies and procedures, implementing planned changes, documenting call-offs, arranging for unit staffing needs on the shift, communication of resident issues requiring physician direction to the attending physician, communication of resident change in condition and physician orders to the resident responsible party, providing feedback to staff, evaluating staff job performance, counseling and disciplining employees, as necessary.
Monitors and assesses all aspects of resident care, including work performance of nursing staff, efficiency of services provided, according to physician's orders, care plans, established standards of care and Facility policies and procedures.
Administers medication and treatments according to physician's orders, care plans, and the Facility's established policies and procedures.
Assesses residents' physical and emotional status and documents any changes in the medical records.
Works cooperatively as part of a health care interdisciplinary team to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate resident care plans.
Modifies resident care plans in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team as indicated by residents' responses and conditions.
Uses problem-solving skills to make improvements in the delivery of resident care in collaboration with the Director Of Nursing Services.
Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices in accordance with Facility policies and procedures, including monitoring infection control techniques to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and ensuring that fire and disaster procedures are followed in the case of an emergency.
Communicates with residents, residents' family members, and interdisciplinary team members and management regarding resident status.
Attends all department meetings, in-service and/or job skills training, and/or educational programs as scheduled.
Makes resident rounds on a regular basis and addresses and corrects any necessary operational issues.
Reports all unusual circumstances that may involve the safety and well-being of the residents and staff in a timely manner directly to the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing and proposes solutions.
Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents' rights and confidentiality.
Complies with HIPAA and Corporate Compliance Programs.
Promotes harmonious relationships with others and exhibits a positive attitude among the health care interdisciplinary team.
Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to skilled nursing facilities, as well as adheres to, upholds, and enforces all facility policies and procedures.
Performs additional functions or duties, as assigned by the supervisor.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Ability Education/Certifications/Experience EDUCATION:
Associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing is necessary.
Completion of Bachelor's degree is preferred.
CERTIFICATION:
Current RN license is required.
Employee must be in good standing with the state.
Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate is required.
Experience:
Sufficient experience in order to perform daily tasks with an understanding of the duties involved.
Prior experience as a Staff Nurse is required.
A minimum of one year as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience in an assisted living facility is preferred.
Knowledge NURSING:
Knowledge of the principles, standards, and methods of professional nursing and the practices of the skilled care and rehabilitation of residents.
MEDICINE:
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat residents.
Includes knowledge of medical symptoms and treatment alternatives, preventative health care measures, and drug properties and interactions.
PSYCHOLOGY:
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and effective disorders.
CUSTOMER AND PERSONAL SERVICE:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services.
This includes, but is not limited to, meeting the quality standards for sound nursing techniques and treatment practices, knowledge of medical treatments, and health care sanitation and hygiene, in a manner which promotes resident satisfaction.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE:
Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
THERAPY AND COUNSELING:
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
MATHEMATICS:
Ability to perform basic mathematics for medication disbursement, weight calculations and intake/output measurement to perform duties.
CHEMISTRY:
Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo as it relates to the position.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Completion of a state-approved RN training program.
ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT:
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
SAFETY AND SECURITY:
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of staff and residents, data, and the Facility as a whole.

Reporting to this Position Registered Nurses Position Hours and Travel The Facility is required to employ Nursing Supervisors 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Shifts may vary based on the needs of the Facility.
Overtime hours, with little or no notice, may be required, if deemed necessary by the reporting supervisor.
Although unlikely, local and out-of-town travel may be required for training purposes.
Average travel expectation is less than 1%.
